Historic Day As Table Game Gambling Begins In Delaware

July 13th, 2010 by admin

Decades from now, gambling analysts might look back at Friday and say it was the day that forever changed casino gambling in the Northeast. The winds of change blew through Delaware now, and the state announced it’s intentions to be a major competitor in the gambling industry.

Anticipation was building all week and Harrington Raceway and Casino was preparing fro the arrival of table game gambling. Games had already been taking place with low limits all week, but Friday marked the first day for full scale table game playing throughout the state of Delaware. It’s a huge event for those who previously had to play casino online. The only downside is a lack of the online casino bonus.

All day long gamblers will be enjoying games like blackjack, craps, and roulette. That is along with the poker and slots gambling that already takes place at Harrington all year. This is Delaware’s first attempt at becoming the gambling capital for the East Coast.

Over the last year, Delaware legislators have legalized not just table games in casinos throughout the state, but now also sports betting. Delaware is now the only place in the union other than Nevada which can boast both full-scale casino gaming and sports betting.

Delaware might be first, but Pennsylvania does not intend to fall far behind. Pennsylvania legislators approved table games as well, and by July 4th, several casinos in Pennsylvania plan on running table games too. New York, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire have all had discussions about increasing casino gambling during the past several months.

Bluffing In Online Poker

January 11th, 2010 by admin

Successful online poker players are the ones that have learned to effectively bluff at the virtual table. It’s probably the most discussed poker strategy, but it’s not used as frequently as you’d believe, but you should definitely make sure to include it in your repertoire. If you never bluff, you become a predictable sap at the table, but if you bluff too often, other players will start calling you when you really don’t want them to. Like every strategy, you need to make sure you deploy it with temperance so you don’t become stale.

There’s several factors you need to consider before bluffing: the type of opponent; the number of opponents; the board; the size of the pot; and your position.

The Type Of Opponent
It’s unwise to bluff against weak and new players that simply call every wager. Calling stations are out there just to slow down your play and you need to just work around them. Be certain that the other player is skilled enough to know when to fold their hand, but not so smart as to know you’re bluffing!

The Number Of Opponents
It’s not a good idea to bluff if there’s three or more players in any given hand, especially when playing in limit poker games. A bluff works best when it’s against a single player. It’s actually less for the fact that there’s just one other player to worry about than the way that a smaller pot is much less desirable for the competition.

The Board
If you are playing a poker variation that has community cards, you need to be very wary of any flops, turns, or rivers that could benefit other opponents. When the board has few draws or cards that are unlikely to help the other players’ hands, then the bluff could work well. In these situations, if you can represent a strong hand, your bluff is more likely to work perfectly. If the board is uncoordinated and has a scare card which you can implement to represent a strong hand, this would be a great time to bluff.

The Size Of The Pot
As mentioned when discussing the number of opponents, the larger the pot, the more likely others are to call you on your bluff. However, if you bluff successfully on a large pot, you are walking away with free money. This requires a lot of practice before you get good at it, but the rewards are fantastic.

Position
It’s generally good poker advice to use the late position at the table to your advantage. It’s terrific for bluffing and everything else to do with the game and we can’t recommend maximizing your positioning enough.
